Hello Fellas !With the festival of lights around the corner, everyone’s busy with cleaning and decorating their homes. I’ll help you with some of the cool ideas to decorate your home with stuffs that are easily available. These are simple yet classy ideas you can apply to decorate ur houses without effecting you busy diwali preparation schedule much. Hope you’ll find these helpful.
1) FLOOR DESIGNS We are sometimes so busy with our preparations that we miss out the most important thing and realise it at the very last moment. If so is the case with your Diwali RANGOLI , need not worry, i’m here to help you out just for the same. A) Take a cardboard sheet. Draw a rough design over it, try drawing floral prints. B) After drawing , cut them accordingly. C) Get some colorful foam sheets ,cut them according to the design, remove the sticker and paste it over the cardboard design. D) Decorate the design with ryan stones and other colorful mirrors and stones available in the market.
2) DECORATIVE CANDLES As diwali is festival of lights , there is no debate in making it lit up with candles and diyas. Decorative candles are sometihng which can add to the beauty. This can be done in 3 simple steps. Get some floor candles , stick colorful tapes around the candle boundaries.You can also try pasting stones on to it.
3) ROUND DIYA PLATES Every diwali we come across with the same problem of sticky floors with oil spilt all over the floor. Here’s an idea which is way more than effective to overcome this problem. A) Take an unwanted CD , cover the non-shiny side with some colorful paper. This is totally optional. Its perfectly fine if you do not cover it. B) Take a marker, draw some small floral or rangoli designs over the shiny surface of the cd. C) Color your design with bright acrylic colors.Try highlighting the designs with the 3D outliner used in glass paintings to highlight the designs. You can also decorate this with ryan stones. Your diya plate is ready,ball you have to do is light a diya, place it over the cd hole.
4) HANGING LIGHTS What if we could decorate the ceilings ? Well thats possible and easy too. A) Take some unwanted CDs , Cover the non shiny side with some silver paper. This is optional too. B) Get some straw or sticks similar to it . Cover it with some colorful tapes or with bright colored papers.( Well thats not optional, its mandatory !) C) Get some different shaped mirrors from market, try making some designs with them. Paste the mirror designs over the CDs. D) Attach the CDs with the stick with help of fabric threads. Hang it on the celing where you can get the diya reflections to brighten up the room. Yet Another way of decorating the walls is to fill the wine bottles with some colorful LEDs and hang them around the corners. This also looks pretty attractive.
5) JUTE HOLDERS Jute holders are the most eco-friendly decorative material you can make this diwali to decorate your home. Remeber the idea of papermache we used to make when we were kids, making jute holders have somewhat similar process. A) Get a roll of jute rope, disposable plates and glasses, a bottle of fevicol. B) Make the fevicol solution( mix water and fevicol in the ratio of 1:2 ). C) Apply the fevicol to the outer side of the glasses and plates. D) Wrap the jute wire around the applied area. Make sure it sticks to the surface. Apply 2-3 coats of fevicol solution to make it strong. Let it dry for 6- 7 hours. E) Once it dries, color it with bright colors, decorate them with stones, mirrors and stickers acccording to what your creative mind says. F) Cut or peelout the glass or the plate you used,it eventually comes out once it is fully dry.Use it as diya holder or a flower holder.
6) DIYA HOLDER Diya holders can make the diyas look more colorful and beatiful. There are several ideas for making them. A) Cinnamon (Dalchini/Taj) Stick Candle Holder B) Collect some old plain bangles from your wardrobe, paste them one over the other to make a round bangle tower.(Caution: Do not use strong adhesive, it will destroy your bangles). Decorate them with stones and colorful tapes. You don’t have to even decorate them if u have some bright and designer bangles. Easy, right ! C) Get some disposable glasses. Color it with rainbow colors, cut the bottom of the glass and place it over the DIYA. See the rainbow color flames out. D) You can also use colorful papers, cut them according to the designs and place it over the diya.
7) FLOATING CANDLES Take a round base vessel. Decorate the outer side of the vessel with stones and colorful paper. Add water to the vessel, add some bright colors to it. Also add oil to the mixture. Now drop some scented and decorated candles over it. Your floating candles are ready. Keep it at the centre of the room.
8) JAR DIYAS We all have empty glass jars at our home. Here’s a way to convert it into a lantern. You can also do the same with transparent disposable glasses. Get some rice from your kitchen and some food color from the nearby market. Start mixing these colors to the rice and make different colorful rices. Now layer the these colorful rices one by one to the glass jars (I tried rainbow colors,it looks awesome). When it reaches the top , leave a light space to place a mall flat floor candle onto it. Close the jar with its led or same colorful plate. Watch the colorful lights coming out the jar. It looks very pretty.
9) PAPER LANTERNS Paper lanterns add a festive air to the occasion. These are mesmerizing hanging lights which brightens the interior as well as the exterior of the place. Here are the steps to make this beautiful decor. A) Fold a colorful sheet of paper in half lengthwise. B) Cut even splits according to the folded edge. C) Unfold the paper.Bring the narrow end together to form a tube. D) Overlap and staple the narrow ends. E) Cut thin strips of paper for the handle. F) Staple both ends of the handle to the top of tube. Place diyas or rice lights inside itAnd your lanterns are ready.
10) Decorative M-Seal Diyas Decoration of diyas is something all of us love to do every year. Try using some simple and sober colors and add sprinkles to it. Again you can also decorate it with ryan stones and and colorful plate.One of the newest way to make diyas and pots is making them with M-seal instead of clay. It looks different.

If you have empty bottles or jars that aren’t colored, simply cover them with bright cellophane paper to give them some color. You can also create designs in the paper for added effect.
